As criminal defense attorneys, few moments are more powerful than when we hear the words, "Not Guilty." Or, more often, we are privileged to tell a client: “we won. It's over.” Whether it’s a dismissal, an acquittal, or a case thrown out before it ever had legs, the victory is life-changing. But for our clients, the journey doesn’t end there.

Just being charged with a crime—especially something serious—can leave a stain that lingers in the digital age. Employers, landlords, and others don’t always understand the difference between an accusation and a conviction. That’s why we don’t just stop at winning cases. We push for expunction, a legal process that allows eligible clients to erase the record as if it never happened. Clean slate. True freedom.

Sometimes, we take photos to commemorate the moment—those first smiles, the tears, the relief. But out of respect for privacy, especially when the charges are heavy, we’ve had to hide those powerful expressions behind blurred faces or awkward emojis.

Now, thanks to AI, we no longer have to choose between protecting our clients’ privacy and showing the real emotion of the moment. We can recreate the scene, the feeling, and the energy of that day—without revealing identities or compromising dignity.

Because every win matters. And every client deserves to be remembered for who they are—not the worst moment they were ever accused of.

We're excited to announce our new associate attorneys who will be coming on board. The spring will be a great time for the Cedillo Law Firm. Look for more detailed updates soon.

We recently had some fun in the office with a new Studio Ghibli–inspired AI portrait of our team — and it came out incredible. The image captures our spirit in a whimsical, animated world… but it also got us thinking about the real-world impact AI is already having on our work.

While the art is lighthearted, the technology behind it is serious — and it’s reshaping the legal landscape. From case analysis to jury selection insights, AI tools are becoming powerful assets in the criminal defense world. We're using AI to help streamline research, spot inconsistencies in discovery, and even model likely outcomes based on data — all to give our clients a sharper, more strategic defense.

Of course, nothing replaces human judgment, experience, or heart — but when used thoughtfully, AI enhances the tools we bring to the courtroom.

Check out our new portrait below — and know that behind the playful picture is a team committed to staying on the cutting edge for our clients.
